Black Hills 2010

Postby Steelhorseman » October 23rd, 2009, 9:35 am

Looking at a ride to the Black Hills on Memorial Day weekend (May 28th through May 30) 2010. This will give us all an extra day. Last year we stayed at the Motel 6 in Rapid City and it was a great deal and a good place to ride from.

Put this one on your calender!!!!

Oh man, my son and I were just there last June, FANTASTIC ROADS. We stayed in Deadwood for three nights and used that as our hub. IMO, we had just as much fun there as we did in Colorado, seriously.

I'm in on this, was a blast last time....

adding in: there is a possible chance of leaving a few days earlier for an extended ride out there ie: ND, MT thru yellowstone into WY then into Rapid City the same day as all arriving fro the cities, will post more as time get's closer... Steel what's your thought's on this?

It's on the calander. I might be able to convince my Dad to come along on this one too. I've never been out that way but I hear the roads are fantastic. I'll have to see if my rotation has me working over Memorial day........ :MG_65:

This sounds like a great option. If you haven't been to Yellowstone, it takes some time to get through. It is a large area and speed limits are strictly enforced. In September I went to Red Lodge on a Thursday. On Friday I went over Beartooth Pass and down Chief Joseph's highway to Cody. From there I went through the Bighorns to Rapid City on Friday. These were some long days (around 500 miles), but that is what I like. Great roads, some of the best in the west as far as I am concerned. This is pretty much the reverse of Broch and Lance's fall trip. Not much into 2-up, but hey......... :stop:

If there is enough interest we could easily add this with a couple of extra days. everyone look at your calenders and keep this option open, I'm game.

Steel and Aussie...I really like this idea...I have made this trip a few times and you are right it is some long days! However it is very doable! We could leave on whatever day and meet Steel out in the Black Hills then run out to Yellowstone over the next few days...too fun :ok:
