Here's a little situation I had with my 14 year old daughter tonight.
She was heading out the door with her friend and I told her she had to clean her room before she left. It's actually not a bedroom but the entire basement. She has claimed territory of all of it except leaving the laundry room to mom & dad. So, it was the whole basement pretty much a mess she had to do.
She says "Dad, I'll be back in 20 minutes and I promise to do it then" I said "fine".
So I'm sitting in the den and after 20 minutes I hear a car pull up and then a bunch of ruckus heading down the basement. I go down to find three 16 year old boys and three 14 year old girls standing there. I said to my daughter "Alyssa, I told you that you had to clean the room". She says "WE ARE!". I decided not to embarrass her at the moment and let her know it was her own responsibility and as I walked up the stairs I heard her telling everybody where to go and clean.
I started to think of how I should punish her for bringing friends to do the work. On one hand the perspective of let's say a Drill Sergeant would be that she should be punished for being lazy, not being responsible for her own actions or in this case her own mess and having others bail her out. On the other hand the perspective of lets say a business owner in the "Real World", would reward her for understanding a job needed to get down quickly, efficiently, meeting a deadline (so she could go hang out) and that she showed leadership in delegating tasks to others.
Hmmmm.... I think I'll just let this one slide

.

Now go make a list of all the things that you need her and her friends to do say outside, that you would have had to do.
Then you can spend more time
