Million Dollar Highway

Postby section m » December 2nd, 2009, 11:57 pm

I am throwing around the idea of moving to Colorado and I happened to run across this video. I might have to make a trip out there next year and spend a week riding the mountains. It looks like you don't want to mess up in a couple of spots because there is some big drop offs with no guard rails.

I can attest to that being a great ride. Did it last June. Great roads in Southern Colorado.

My son and I did that road from Ouray to Durango almost 3 years ago, UNBELIEVABLE! We have family in central CO but I sure wish they would move to Durango, that whole SW quadrant of CO is one of the best kept secrets in the world for moto bike rides!

When in Colorado...you must do Mt. Evans...highest paved highway in the US. Here's a picture of my boyfriend, Jim, coming into the first hairpin coming down from the crest...my favorite picture of our trip last year...love all the moutain goats alongside the road. (And yes, I took this while I was riding on my bike behind his bike). There are NO guardrails anywhere along this ascent/descent to Mt. Evans...worth every white-knuckle, frost-heave minute!
