HID Headlight Kits

Postby NDAna » June 14th, 2010, 7:25 pm

This is the headlight in BigBad's video. Hope I'm not out of line posting this up.

This is current info. They are at least 2.5x as bright as SilverStars and will last about 10x as long. I'm providing a 12 month replacement warranty from date of shipment. Guys that have them (WA VTX guys and others all over the country) are DELIGHTED, and I'm very impressed with mine. Just making a couple of bucks and passing some good deals on to the folks on the board. Hope I don't get busted by Hal but he does not sell these anyway. Similar kits in a fancy box are going for $140 + shipping and they are just 35W where these are 50W kits.
This is a good link which repeats the data here and some independent reviews.

Kits are $85; unless you are using PayPal and then they are $90 because of the fees charged. They come complete. You will need to figure a mount for the ballast as all bikes are set up a little different. Many are going under the triple tree, if desmogged there is room under the tank and there is a space under the neck covers on the VTX 1300 that holds the ballast perfectly. The new smaller ballast is even easier to hide/install.
I would not run a HID as your only source of illumination. This is a single ‘element’ bulb and if it stops functioning – you are in the dark. Best to have a light bar or aux lights of some sort.
PM me and I'll put an order together for you. These bulbs, because they are true HID (single element) will NOT work with H/L modulators!
4300K or 6000K H4 50W kit include:

• 50W HID Bulbs;
• 50W HID Ballast;(100% waterproof) Have upgraded kit to the newer mini ballast. Better quality- smaller size
• Zip ties;
• Hi/Lo relay wiring harness w/ fuse and of course- instructions- Darn near plug and play- a caveman comes to mind!
Features
1. UV cut glass for headlight protection
2. Bulbs move forward and backward 4 mm, and up and down 1.0mm to produce hi/lo beam
3. Tested randomly by continuously switching 30000 times with light on
4 Over / under-current protection, Voltage output overload / low protection, Short circuit protection
5. Shock- water- dust-resistant
6. All the kits that are being sold have gone through rigorous testing at the manufacturers factory as follows:
• Six hours continuous working aging test.
• Connection circuit protection test.
• Short circuit protection test.
• No voltage protection test.
• Over voltage protection test.
• Flash light concussion test.
• Shock resistance capability test.
• Cold/warm start up test.
• Polarity protection test
• Anti-jamming test

Here is a quote from IHOP: I had a chance to ride after dark tonight, man, that HID light is awesome! Talk about light output, holy smokes, it puts out a very clear, slightly blue light (6000K). The beam is adjusted just fine, I don't think it needs to be tweaked at all. High beam switch works fine too... It takes a few seconds to get to full brightness after you turn the key on, but once it’s there you can see great.

Hey Sam, JohnZ here from Chicago. Took a little longer than I had expected to finally install your HID light kit on my X, but got around to doing it yesterday. All I can say is OMIGOD is that HID light bright!!! You absolutely weren't kidding about this HID light that literally turned night into day. I am overwhelmingly pleased with my purchase with the only regret is that I didn't purchase your HID kit sooner ....and in response to your statement, "I am definitely enjoying the light show!!!" Thanks again

And a link to a pretty good bit of info. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=836
And a link to a nice install video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fk6q-Wr ... r_embedded

What are the choices? If I have a plain white one (HID), is it just a matter of swapping out the bulb?

Maybe I would order a colored one and keep my white one as a spare.

thanks.

4 individual bulbs? or are they 2 hi/lo bulbs. Sorry but not familiar with your particular setup. Could go to a parts store and look at H7s but it is a little late and most are closed.
If it is 4 bulbs I've no idea where you are going to put 4 ballasts. 2 should be doable; 4 doable to but will take some wiring mods to the kits I'm sure. I'll have to special order in any case. Pricing would be 2X the kit price. If paying by check take off $5 for shipping and if by PayPal knock $8 off the total.

I only carry 2 bulbs. 4300K (very white) and the 6000K (very slight blue). Sell these as a safety item. The bluer the bulb the less you can see. Sorry.
These Kits are also 50W. If you have a 50W ballast you would be good to go. Don't imagine you will really need a spare.
